Description
TALK TO ME YANKEE Talk To Me Yankee is a striking 4-year-old, 15.2-hand dark grey gelding with the size, substance, mind, and versatility to go in just about any direction. Ranch bred with the infamous WYO breeding, he is double registered AQHA/FQHA. He's as handsome as they come, and put together with plenty of bone and a beautiful black mane and full tail, Yankee is the kind that gets noticed before he ever takes his first step. Once he does, his movement may be what really sets him apart. He is fluid, balanced, and exceptionally pretty moving, with a beautiful extended trot and the type of natural reach and cadence that gives him serious potential in the English disciplines, dressage, or Western dressage, in addition to the ranch and Western events. Yankee has already built an excellent foundation for a young horse. He has tons of outdoor miles, has been ridden both alone and in groups, and is comfortable either way. He has seen cattle, been foxhunted, ridden English and Western, ponied other horses and colts, trail ridden, and has experience in the arena as well as out in the real world. He will walk quietly, jog, long trot, move out willingly in his extended gaits, and lope around with ease. He is soft and responsive to his rider’s aids, has plenty of stop, and will turn around nicely. He is sensible without being dull and has enough feel and athletic ability to make him an exciting prospect for someone who wants to continue developing him. One of our favorite things about Yankee is simply who he is to have around. He is an incredibly sweet, personable gelding who genuinely enjoys attention and will nicker when he sees you coming. He has wonderful ground manners, is respectful to handle, and has quickly become the kind of horse people enjoy having in the barn. He stands nicely for grooming and handling and clips without a twitch. He is easy to be around, straightforward in his daily routine, and has the demeanor you appreciate whether you’re working with him every day or just walking into the barn to say hello. Yankee is up to date on all routine care and currently requires absolutely no maintenance. He has worn shoes previously, but he has strong, healthy feet and is currently comfortable barefoot. He has no known soundness concerns and has not required injections or special maintenance to stay comfortable in doing his job. In the interest of representing him completely and honestly, Yankee does have one minor barn habit worth mentioning: when kept stalled, he has a light tendency to chew or occasionally crib on his feed bucket. It has been minor enough that we have never felt the need to put a cribbing collar on him, and it has not affected his condition, health, performance, or manageability in any way. Yankee has not shown any cribbing when he is left outside or left in a stall while relaxing. At just four years old, Yankee has already seen and done more than many horses twice his age, yet he still has his whole future ahead of him. He isn’t being sold as a finished horse in one specialized discipline—he is something arguably more exciting: a talented, well-started young gelding with a tremendous foundation who is ready for his next person to finish exactly the way they want. Take him toward the ranch events, develop him as a classy English or dressage prospect, continue foxhunting and trail riding, or simply make him into an exceptional all-around partner. Big, dark grey, kind, sound, versatile, and loaded with potential—Talk To Me Yankee is the kind of young gelding that gives his next owner a whole lot of options.
