Baxter

Baxter is a work horse. He is BROKE. But, he does not want to be your friend. Full discloser of his history - He came from Ohio this winter from an Amish sale, they did his training, got him broke, a 12 yo girl was riding him in the arena and out on trails, they were carrying a flag on him, he’s seen some stuff. He came to MT and was purchased by a performance horse program and they sold him as is, to a rider that just doesn’t have the time, consistency, or confidence to keep this horse on the right path. Not necessarily fault to horse or rider, but it’s just not a good appropriate fit for what the rider needs. Baxter is Broke one handed neck rein, but he needs some tuning up, hence some 2 handed riding clips. He can and should carry himself correctly and stays soft when ridden right. He does move out, he’s not a slow poke, he’s not dull. Ride with you leg and steer with your hand. He has a comfortable all day walk trot lope, big stop, can spin but its not 100% correct by technical terms. He’s going to need someone with confidence and no hesitation to continue his education. I think he’d excel in dressage, english or wester, or some kind of cow horse/reining type riding with a solid tune up. He has history of being out on trails and he has been around cattle, but I would not deem him a ranch horse by any means. He’s not had the rope swung on him, and has not drug anything. If you’re looking for a nice shapey gelding that has a lot of potential that you can fine tune into him, he’s your horse. If you don’t care about a horse meeting you at the gate, he’s your horse. If you can look past the watchyness and snortyness he’ll give you on the ground, he’s your horse. Baxter needs a Job and Consistency. PPE at buyer expense.
