Wyo Ranch Horse Sale

The WYO Ranch Horse & Stock Dog Sale, formerly known as the Pitchfork Ranch Horse Sale, was built around a long-standing Western tradition: bringing together dependable ranch horses, proven working stock dogs, and the people who rely on them every day.

Held each May at the Pitchfork Ranch in Meeteetse, Wyoming, the sale features ranch-raised and performance horses consigned by respected horsemen and women from across the West. These are horses with real-world experience, solid foundations, and the ability to handle a day’s work on the ranch while still having the talent and training to compete in the arena.

The events leading up to sale day are designed to give buyers a closer look at each horse’s ability, disposition, and level of training. Horses are showcased through a variety of ranch and arena events that may include ranch cutting, branding, reining, and two-man doctoring. Buyers are also encouraged to visit with consignors, inspect the horses, ask questions, and ride before the sale.

The working stock dog trial has become an important part of the weekend as well. It gives consignors the opportunity to demonstrate their dogs in a realistic ranch setting and allows buyers to see how each dog reads livestock, handles pressure, takes direction, and works as a partner.

We believe buyers should know who raised, trained, and represented the horses and dogs they are considering. Each consignor is featured with a detailed background so buyers can better understand the experience, philosophy, and program behind every consignment.

Our goal is to build one of the premier ranch horse and working stock dog sales in the country while preserving the quality, transparency, and Western hospitality the sale has always been known for. More than anything, we want buyers to leave Meeteetse feeling confident in what they purchased and knowing exactly who stood behind it.
