Description
15 Year-Old mare | Ranch-Raised • Broke • Versatile & Gritty Chartreuse is a sharp and capable mare with all the grit and talent you’d expect from a true ranch partner — wrapped up in a compact, catty, and athletic package. At 15 years old, she’s got just the right blend of experience, maturity, and try. This mare has done the real work. She’s pushed cattle, checked fence lines, been part of brandings, and logged miles of ranch and trail terrain. She’s had a rope thrown off of her, navigated rough country, and been exposed to just about everything imaginable — from loud vehicles and tarps to strollers and dogs. She handles pressure and unpredictability with confidence and a clear mind. Under saddle, Char is a joy to ride! She has a finished neck rein, a smooth walk-jog-lope, and a snappy rollback. She stops off your seat and voice, backs easily, side passes, and moves off leg with hardly any cue. She’s broke and responsive but not overreactive — a perfect balance of feel and reliability. Chartreuse has also participated in not only our roping events but also several cutting and sorting events. She’s quick when asked! Char has been ridden bridleless and bareback down the highway and through intense wind — nothing phases her. Char is incredibly surefooted on the trail and has crossed water, bridges, tarps, and more. Her mountain experience shows — she’s steady, bold, and smart about where she places her feet. She’s the kind of horse who gives you confidence, no matter the environment. With a naturally curious, friendly personality, Char is easy to handle on the ground and gets along well in a herd or stall setting. She leads, loads, ties, bathes, and is respectful to both the vet and farrier. My 2-year-old daughter leads her around all by herself If you’re looking for a seasoned mare with endurance, a calm mind, and a go-all-day work ethic, Char checks all the boxes. She’s ready for your next branding, big mountain ride, roping, weekend job, or just to haul your kiddos and family around!
